The playground on Pallette Street and public toilet in through the football pavilion will remain open, when safe and possible to do so.

• Dawson Reserve is a 6 minute walk to the east
• Richards Reserve is a 4 minute walk to the south

This project is delivered in various stages with different completion dates. The whole adopted master plan is expected to be delivered by June 2024.

We have engaged extensively with the community about the Hosken Reserve Masterplan, including the sports fields, active recreation area, pavilions, lighting and footpath upgrades.

We thank our community for sharing their feedback, which was considered when preparing the final plans for Hosken Reserve. You can review our previous engagement here.

• The East Field (which will be dedicated for informal use) and the North Field will consist of natural grass.
• The South Field will consist of hybrid turf, which is more durable for how this field will be used. We will provide more details on this when they are finalised.

We’ll be adding 43 extra parking spaces in the Hosken Reserve car park, for a total of 136 parking spaces. We’re confident that is an adequate amount of parking to meet the needs of sports clubs and locals using the reserve for other forms of recreation.

This is 42 more parking spaces than we originally said we would deliver.

Once the sportfields have been upgraded, less games will be played by sports clubs at Hosken Reserve, which will mean less traffic. The East Field will no longer be used for games and will be dedicated for informal use. Sports clubs will be able to use an upgraded field at the nearby Richards Reserve instead, alleviating pressure on Hosken Reserve.

We expect local residents to walk or ride to Hosken Reserve to use amenities like the active recreation space.

• We will be planting more than 250 new native trees and shrubs around Hosken Reserve as part of this project. This will increase tree canopy coverage from 10.7% to 28%.

• As part of the construction works we will need to remove some trees, however, we are putting in place several considerations to retain as many trees as possible.
