Hosken Reserve temporary closure

10 January 2024

These works are part of major upgrades included in the Hosken Reserve Masterplan. We are excited for the works to be completed with a newly landscaped community area, brand new active recreation zone and 2 new pitches.

Temporary fencing will be installed on Monday January 29, 2024 at the Shepard Street entry, the Bakers Road entry, the Shorts Road entry and around the Pallete St edge of the Reserve to the perimeter of the playground.

From Monday 29 January there will be no access to the community space in the reserve, the walking paths or the 2 pitches.
We anticipate these works to take approximately 6 months to complete. However, if finished ahead of schedule, the reserve will re-open to the public as soon as is safe to do so.

The playground on Pallette Street and public toilet in the football pavilion will remain open, when safe and possible to do so.

  • The installation of concrete footpaths and resurfacing of existing asphalt
  • The creation of a new one-way road from Shepherd Street to Bakers Road
  • Landscape works across the reserve
  • Building a new active recreational area featuring:
    • A warrior course
    • A half netball/ basketball court
    • Various pieces of fitness equipment
    • A bouldering wall
  • The north pitch is scheduled for completion by June 2024.
    • Works on south pitch after June 2024 will not impact the wider use of the park.
  • The south pitch is scheduled for completion by late 2024 or early 2025.
