These documents inform the way we provide our services and resources for staff, library visitors and the broader community into the future.

We want to hear a variety of experiences from everyone, whether you visit the library regularly or not at all - and anything in between!

Collections ideas

You can borrow more than just books at the library. The list of different media and things that are available at the library is continuously growing and changing. These are what we call collections.

A Collections Policy guides what we will and won't include for reference or loan at the library.

Our current Selection and Collection Development Policy was last updated in 2015. In 2015 ebooks, eaudiobooks and streaming platforms were new and experimental formats.

Now we have lots of different digital media, types of books and even useful objects like induction cooktops and thermal cameras!

We are interested to know how else we can continue to develop the library collections.

  4. You can now continue with your submission

Merri-bek is a diverse community and we want our community engagement to reflect that. The information we collect when you register helps us understand who we are hearing from.

This information helps us to meet our legislative obligations and improve our processes. It also helps maintain the integrity and fairness of the consultation.
