The new standard size rubbish bin would increase from 80 litres to 120 litres. This is the same size as your purple glass recycling bin.

Yes!

You would be able to choose to have an 80-litre rubbish bin, instead of the bigger 120-litre size. A lower waste charge applies for small bins.

If Council decide to proceed with fortnightly rubbish collections, we would ask people later in 2026 if they would like to have a small 80-litre rubbish bin.

If you have an 80-litre bin now and are concerned about handling a bigger 120 litre rubbish bin for medical, disability or mobility reasons, you could choose to keep the smaller 80 litres if it will be enough for your household rubbish over 2 weeks.

If you need the 120-litre rubbish bin or larger, you could try asking a family member, friend or neighbour to help you with your bins on bin night.

If you use or are eligible for Council's Age and Community Support services, you can speak to them about getting help to move your bins on collection day. Or, if you’re on an NDIS plan, you can speak to your case manager to see if this is something they can assist with.

We would also consider special requests for residents with exceptional circumstances.

Tell us how else we could support you with the move to fortnightly rubbish collections by completing the survey on the project home page.
