What we built

The refurbishment and expansion of the Derby Street Children’s Centre has rebuilt the existing 4-year-old kindergarten room and provided an additional kindergarten room with 27 places. The expansion will meet the service’s increasing enrolments and help cater for the recent introduction of funded 3-year-old kindergarten by the Victorian Government.

The project joins the new kindergarten building with the existing building and also provides a new office, therapy room, staff room, planning room, accessible toilet and kitchen.

Existing Facilities

  • 0-2 year old room
  • 2-3 year old room
  • 3-4 year old room
  • 4-5 year old room
  • 2x car parking spaces (includes 1 accessible car space)

What changed?

  • Replacement of existing kindergarten room plus an additional 27 place kindergarten room.
  • By joining up the existing building with the new kindergarten rooms, a more cohesive and modern facility is achieved.
  • New and improved administrative and staff amenities, therapy room and new kitchen.
  • Improved accessible access throughout.
  • An additional 2 car parking spaces.
