Draft Upfield Corridor Urban Design Framework

30 April 2024

In April 2023, Council adopted the Reshaping Brunswick position paper. The paper describes your vision for the Brunswick Level Crossing Removal Project and how it is managed. We've sent it to the State Government to advocate for what our community wants.

We have developed an Urban Design Framework for the streets on either side of the rail corridor and we would love to hear your thoughts.

About the Urban Design Framework

The Upfield Corridor Urban Design Framework (UDF) focuses on extending the benefits of the Brunswick Level Crossing Removal Project beyond the rail corridor. We want to see a positive impact on the surrounding community.

The UDF explores how Council-owned land can be used to:

  • Make the local area greener
  • Improving its cooling, and enhancing its water management capabilities.
  • Improve how people move around new station precincts
  • Improve access to the new open spaces and shared user paths delivered by the Project.

The draft framework shows the ideas we’ve been working on – like new parks, paths, seating, art and gardens in land around the rail corridor. These are included as draft concept plans and we welcome your feedback on these too.
