A bike ride isn’t complete without a place to park it. So as we work to improve our riding and walking routes through Merri-bek, we’re also planning for bike parking improvements, including new bike hoops and a pilot cycle hangar program.

New bike hoop parking

Bike hoops are a common and safe way to park your bike. They provide a safe spot for a bike to be secured with a bike lock, and keep parked bikes off footpaths, roads, and away from potential damage.

Providing bike parking locations is a simple, but essential way we support our community to ride a bike around Merri-bek.

We’re working on a new program for bike parking installation in Merri-bek in which we will plan long-term for new bike parking.

This program will help us ensure that new bike parking locations are strategically placed to best serve our community and enable more people to ride and park their bikes.

What can be influenced?

What happens next

Your feedback will help us determine where there is the highest demand for new bike parking locations in Merri-bek. We will use this data to develop a detailed, strategic program for rolling out new bicycle parking locations in Merri-bek.

This program will guide us as we install new bike hoops over the coming years, creating an equitable and effective network of parking locations.

Your feedback will also assist us in deciding where cycle hangars may be trialled.

We will continue to develop the cycle hangar program, and those who register their interest will be notified as new information is available.
