The notice first appeared on the Merri-bek City Council website, dated 22 May 2023, with a closing date for submissions listed as 12 June. We have now extended the submissions period through to close of business on Friday 21 July 2023.
Please note, the former Glenroy Library is protected by a heritage overlay; when and if the site is sold, the overlay will protect the cultural significance of the building.
If you have already submitted feedback there is no need to resubmit.
Public Notice
Merri-bek City Council, acting under Section 114 of the Local Government Act 2020, proposes to sell the former Glenroy Library at 737 Pascoe Vale Road, Glenroy.
It is Council’s intention to sell the land by a public process in accordance with the State Government’s “Local Government Best Practice Guidelines for the Sale, Exchange and Transfer of Land”.
As part of its Community Engagement Policy, Council is inviting submissions on the proposal to sell its site. Any person wishing to make a submission on the proposal must do so in writing by no later than 5.00 pm on Friday 21 July 2023.
A person making a submission is entitled to request in the submission that they wish to appear in person in support of the submission, or to be represented by a person specified in the submission, at a Hearing of Submissions Committee meeting to be held at a date and time to be determined by Council.
Submissions must be clearly marked “Submission - proposed sale of the former Glenroy Library at 737 Pascoe Vale Road, Glenroy”, with your name and contact details, and should be addressed to Liliane Sutherland, Merri-bek City Council, Locked Bag 10, Brunswick 3056, or delivered to the Merri-bek Civic Centre, 90 Bell Street, Coburg or emailed to property@merri-bek.vic.gov.au

Following the consideration of any submissions, Council may decide to sell or not sell the site.
