Infested trees removed from Coburg Lake Reserve

30 March 2023

In November 2022 we let you know about an infestation of Giant Pine Scale at Coburg Lake Reserve. The infestation was reported by a local resident at Coburg Lake Reserve and affected 4 trees. The trees have now been removed to prevent the spread of the pest as per Agriculture Victoria guidelines.

Our arborists will continue to monitor the condition of nearby pine trees to determine if the pest has spread.

Giant Pine Scale is a sap-sucking insect that appears as a white or grey waxy coating on the bark of pine trees. It can cause significant damage to pine trees if left untreated. If you think you have Giant Pine scale on on your own trees or want to know more visit the Agriculture Victoria website.

Please report all sightings of Giant Pine Scale to Agriculture Victoria to help contain the spread of the pest, and protect our urban forest.
