In November 2022 we let you know about an infestation of Giant Pine Scale at Coburg Lake Reserve. The infestation was reported by a local resident at Coburg Lake Reserve and affected 4 trees.

The 4 trees were removed in March 2023, to prevent the spread of the pest as per Agriculture Victoria guidelines.

Our arborists have been continuing to monitor the condition of nearby pine trees to determine if the pest has spread.

Evidence of spread of the Giant Pine Scale pest

Recent survey work has identified another Monterey Pine tree that has been infested. The tree is on the hill at the rear of 718 Sydney Road, Coburg.

This tree (identified in the image above) will be removed next week.

Given the size and complexity of the tree removal we expect the work to take at least 4 days to complete.
