We are now preparing detailed plans for construction to start in the reserve early next year. If you have questions or comments on the final concept you can contact using the contact details shown on the project page.
What we did
We will install new fencing and a gate along the busy Vincent and Munro Street frontages.
Pedestrian access will be encouraged with large stone boulders in place of old, uneven bollards and fencing on laneway edges and sawn bluestone laid across the laneway between the two parts of the reserve.
We are keeping the natural and open feel of the park by keeping the grassed area for active play and adding a new picnic setting in the shaded area near the play space.
We will plant more trees and native garden beds inside the fenced area of the reserve, as well as native plants around the rain garden along the Munro Street edge.
We are replacing all the play equipment and park furniture and adding more seating, a new picnic table and drink fountain.
We will increase the size of the litter bin and relocate away from park seats and houses.
The swings and other play equipment will be made with natural timber posts. Natural rock and log edging will extend into the play space as nature-based play elements. At least one of the much-loved rockers will be kept in place.
