Asbestos make-safe works completed – Hosken Reserve north and south pitch

15 January 2024

Recently soil containing asbestos was identified soil at the north and south pitches of Hosken Reserve. The asbestos that was identified was in limited quantities and is considered non-friable. Non-friable means the asbestos is solid, cannot be crumbled and released into the air.

This soil was successfully and safely removed.

All works were overseen by industry experts including hygienists and licensed asbestos removalists. We conducted airborne asbestos fibre monitoring. All results were found to be below the laboratory detection limit of 0.01 fibres/mL. No action is required under OHS legislation for this level of airborne asbestos fibre.
