What is planned?

We are upgrading the park and playspace at Gervase Avenue Reserve in Glenroy.

This upgrade includes:

  • Relocating the playspace/playspace to Council-owned land parcels
  • Providing an improved gathering space with picnic settings and an accessible drinking fountain
  • Including a shelter over the gathering space and a shade sail over part of the playspace
  • Installing a new half basketball court by corner of Beckett Street North
  • Installing access paths through the reserve and additional shade trees and garden beds.

Construction started early September with the playspace/gathering space completed 12 December 2025. This area is now open to the public. We are removing the old playspace on 16 December.

The new half basketball court has been open to the public since 20 November 2025.

We will be upgrading the existing asphalt path near the basketball court (Beckett St North->Langton St) in early-mid January 2026. We will also be installing a new asphalt path connecting the end of Pecham Street to the shelter at the same time in January.

Trees and shrubs near the basketball court and playspace/gathering space areas will be installed in early May 2026 when weather is cooler so they can establish.

This will complete works at Gervase Avenue Reserve.

April 2025 Update

We have had to make some changes to the final concept plan.

How can the community influence this project?

What can be influenced?

  • Type of play equipment.
  • Location of seating and shade trees
  • Some improvements to the reserve

What can't be changed?

  • The playspace and gathering space areas have been pre-determined by council to avoid the main road and overhead power lines / other services.
  • No new elements can be positioned within the overhead power lines or gas line zones to comply with service authority requirements.
  • The final design must fit within the available budget.
