We plan to work with residents and/or Owners Corporations to help get the right bin set-up for your building or development.

If you use individual rubbish bins at your unit block, this wouldn't change unless you ask for a review of your bins.

We plan to provide additional shared rubbish bins for those who share their bins. Each building or development will look a little different depending on its size.

  • 4-9 units - If you live in a small block of units you would be able to have individual rubbish bins (even if you're sharing now) so that you could have the bin size that suits your household. If you prefer to share, then we would provide additional shared bins.
  • 10-19 units - If you share your rubbish bins, we would provide additional shared bins and work with you on storage.
  • 20 or more units - If you share your rubbish bins, we propose that we would provide you with a weekly collection service, just like your shared recycling bins.

We plan to continue providing waste reviews for units, townhouses and apartments to help get the right bin set-up .

On request, we would visit your property and review the waste needs. We can help by:

  • adjusting the size and number of rubbish bins you have
  • rearranging bin storage areas so that bins are accessible
  • adding educational signage so that it is clear what goes in each bin.

If you have an individual rubbish bin, we can also help you to transition to shared rubbish bins if you prefer.

Shared bins are used by all residents living in a development or building. They are clearly signed and stored in a common area where all residents can access them. A lower waste charge applies where shared bins are used.

By reducing your household waste you can help to free up more space in your rubbish bin.
