• At Merri-bek Council we are committed to fair and equitable access to sports facilities for women, girls and gender-diverse people.

  • Did you know?

Merri-bek was the first Victorian council to give priority allocation of sports facilities to clubs that proactively included women and girls.

  • Merri-bek and our sporting clubs and associations are leaders in promoting and providing inclusive sport opportunities.

Our work around fair access builds on these efforts and we want your help.

We want hear about the experiences of women, girls, and gender-diverse people when accessing sports and recreation in our community. We want to understand what could be done to make our clubs and facilities even more accessible.

We recognise that there are many factors that may affect participation like:

  • Access to facilities
  • Safe and welcoming spaces
  • Inclusive programs

Your feedback help us ensure that facilities and programs are responsive to the needs of our diverse community.

What happens next

This survey is part of Council's commitment to the Fair Access Roadmap, which seeks to measure equitable access to community sports infrastructure and improve experiences for women, girls, and gender-diverse people. Council will update this page with the results of this survey and then run the same survey again in 2027 to measure changes. This is a requirement under the State Governments Fair Access Roadmap.
