Project Overview

The De Chene Reserve Pavilion will be upgraded to include gender inclusive change rooms and amenities in line with Football Victoria’s guidelines for infrastructure facilities.

The project will provide an inclusive, accessible and sustainable facility to the Brunswick Juventus Football club and the diverse local community around it.

New Pavilion Inclusions

  • 4 Gender Inclusive Change Rooms to Football Victoria’s guidelines designed to be female-friendly
  • 4 Change Room Amenities: upgraded and new amenities including showers and toilets.
  • Match Officials’ room: designed to be gender inclusive with privacy provisions
  • First Aid area
  • Accessible public toilet as per Council’s public toilet policy
  • Change Room Amenities to include ambulant toilets
  • Accessible pathways or ramps as required to comply with building regulations
  • Energy efficient lighting
  • Thermal efficient hot water pipes
  • Water-saving fixtures
  • Building design and materials to enhance thermal performance
  • Expanded infrastructure to support increased and diverse community use
  • The upgrade to the pavilion will be designed as an extension to the existing De Chene Reserve Pavilion, and will be designed to blend into the existing environment as much as possible.
  • The new built form will nestle within the steep contours of the site and respond to the existing Environmental Management Overlay
  • It will aim to incorporate sustainable and eco-friendly construction materials

Female-friendly Features

  • Dedicated changing spaces: Separate private changing rooms for female players to ensure comfort, security and privacy
  • Appropriate fixtures: Amenities such as individual shower and toilet cubicles, and lockers designed with female users in mind, including considerations for hygiene and convenience.
  • Design considerations: Spaces designed to be welcoming and supportive of female athletes and encourage their greater participation.
