Thank you for your feedback on the proposed locations for reverse vending machines (RVMs) as part of the Victorian Government’s Container Deposit Scheme.

We received 175 comments on the proposed locations. Overall, there was strong support for both locations, with 70% or more comments explicitly supporting RVMs at both locations. We heard that people are excited to finally see a Container Deposit Scheme in Victoria. We also heard overwhelmingly that the community want to see more opportunities to return their drink containers in Merri-bek.

The RVMs at 797 Sydney Road, Brunswick and Domain Street, Hadfield have been installed and are operational. You can now recycle eligible drinking containers at these sites and receive a refund.

We will continue working with TOMRA Cleanaway to identify other suitable locations on Council land to create more opportunities for our community to participate in the scheme.
