Installation of the trial road closure on Barrow Street, Coburg has been completed, just in time for the start of the school year.

A trial of the closure will now commence, and run for approximately 12 months.

During this trial period, we will gather data, observations and community feedback to determine the effectiveness of the closure for creating a safer environment on the street.

This trial closure is designed to improve safety for our most vulnerable road users such as these school children, pedestrians and people riding bikes by reducing vehicle volumes and speeds, while maintaining local access for residents to enjoy a quieter and safer street environment.

Following the 12 month trial, a decision will be made as to whether the closure should be installed permanently.

The trial infrastructure is temporary, and can be easily removed following the end of the trial to make way for the potential permanent infrastructure.
