Here at Council we manage $2.1 billion in assets such as roads, buildings, parks and many more things valuable to the Merri-bek community – both now and for generations to come.

To make sure we manage these valuable community assets in a responsible and effective manner we are reviewing our Asset Management Policy.

We want this policy to be responsive to changing community needs and to promote sustainable development with future generations in mind.

Your feedback will help us to confirm the key guiding principles of this policy.

What is an Asset Management Policy?

An Asset Management Policy gives Council a framework to manage its community assets responsibly.

Merri-bek City Council, Executive and officers will use this policy as guiding document when involved in the operation, maintenance, renewal, upgrade, and disposal of existing assets and the acquisition and construction of new assets.

All community assets owned or controlled by Council are covered by this policy.

These include roads and transport, carparks, footpaths and shared paths, drainage, structures and buildings, parks and open space.
