Building on the extensive feedback received through The Coburg Conversation and considering our Community Vision and Council’s strategies and policies, Council developed a paper called Revitalising Coburg.

Revitalising Coburg outlines 6 objectives that relate to key headlines that we heard through the engagement program and will guide future plans for the area.

We’re delighted to share that we’re delivering on the first 2 of these objectives, creating a new library and much needed community open space.

Libraries create an opportunity for lifelong learning and community connection, this is why we are investing in a new contemporary library in the heart of Coburg, which will be designed to service our community well into the future.

The current library is no longer fit-for-purpose after its initial use as a supermarket from the 1960s. A new central open space or piazza will also be created to provide essential gathering spaces and increased tree canopy coverage.
