At its meeting on 11 March, Council endorsed the schematic design for the new park at 568 Sydney Road, Brunswick. The endorsed plan:

• Increases local parking capacity by reconfiguring the Staley Street layout, acknowledging the high value the community places on car park access.
• Delivers 1,550m² of new open space, providing a substantial green lung for residents, workers, and visitors.
• Enhances active transport, establishing a safe, high-quality walking and cycling link between Hope Street and Stewart Street.
• Preserves essential access to existing rear laneways.

As part of this process, Council will also explore further traffic calming measure for Staley Street, to improve safety and accessibility.

The stage 1 engagement summary report is available to be downloaded below. A draft concept plan for the proposed park will be made available to the community for feedback in August 2026.
