The 10 year Asset Plan is informed by Merri-bek's Community Vision and is a long term strategy to help us renew, expand or upgrade our community assets.

We want to continue to provide great facilities for our community to use, and also ensure our assets are well manged for future generations.

How has the draft Asset Plan been developed?

The draft 10-year Asset Plan has been developed through three stages of community engagement as part of the Imagine Merri-bek program. You can read reports about our past community engagement on the this draft Plan in the document library of this webpage.

What kind of assets does Merri-bek Council own and maintain?

  • 630 kms of roads

  • 1,191 km of footpaths and bike paths

  • 563 km of storm water drain pipes

  • 319 community and civic facilities including aquatic and leisure, maternal and child health, and senior citizens centres

  • 136 reserves over 652 ha of open space

  • 67 bridges and 807 retaining walls
