We understand the planning permit process can seem confusing if you are not familiar with it.
There are a number of steps involved in our planning process, from pre-application to planning decision.
Familiarising yourself with the planning application process can equip you with the tools and knowledge to get involved and influence the outcome of a development more effectively.
If a planning permit application is advertised near your property or you receive a letter about a planning permit application and you are concerned about the way the proposal may affect you or your property, you can participate in the planning decision process by providing written objections or submissions, and sometimes verbally at meetings with Council officers.
To help our community better understand how to influence planning outcomes, we have developed a simple guide that explains the steps involved in a typical planning permit application.
Public information sessions
We're also holding public information sessions.
- You can register to attend a face to face session using the form below
- or watch a recording of our webinar (held November 15 2021) further down this page.
We'll be developing some further educational resources based on these sessions, with a view to address common questions and challenges faced by residents around understanding the planning process.
Council planning officers are also available to help with any more detailed questions you might have. You can speak to a planner by calling 9240 1111.
