AWA VIC Merri Creek Women's Walk

The Victorian Branch of the Australian Water Association (AWA) has been working with the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation and the community to establish a virtual trail along the Merri Creek to create a greater awareness of people’s connection to the land and water. Join us for an afternoon explore of the Merri Creek Women's Walk and official sign reveal!

The Merri Creek Women’s Walk trail acknowledges Wurundjeri’s connection to the land and water and tells the stories of several inspiring women who have contributed to the Merri Creek and its local environment.

We look forward to welcoming the broader community to the creek and invite you to walk the trail on Thursday 7 April 2022, during which we will have a Welcome to Country by Wurundjeri Elder Uncle Dave, as well as a smoking ceremony, before we explore the area of Joe's Garden and other parts of the Merri Creek.

We also hope to reveal a permanent sign with a QR code linking to the virtual map for the broader community to enjoy.

You can find out more about this event, and register to attend, on the Australian Water Association (AWA) website.
