This page is intended for Moreland Councillors.

In 2020 Council introduced new Governance Rules in response to changes to the Local Government Act 2020. These Governance Rules require the discontinuation of all Advisory Committees except the Audit and Risk Committee by 30 June 2021. After 30 June Council will appoint Advisory Committees that it would like to guide its decision making during the Council term. As part of this decision making process Council may decide to reinstate Advisory Committees established prior to 30 June 2021.

Review of Advisory Committees

Council officers are undertaking a review to identify ways to improve how we coordinate Advisory Committees and to ensure our processes align with Council’s new Governance rules. An outcome of the review will include process improvements, and recommendations to Council about the committee structure that can best support Council to deliver on its Council Plan and core strategies.

Council is grateful to Advisory committee members for the time and commitment they have given over past years to advise Council on important matters affecting the Moreland community. Committee members play a significant role in advising Council on policies, major strategies and decisions.

We seek Councillor feedback as part of this review by Monday 28 June 2021

All Councillors were invited to a Communications and Engagement Councillor Group meeting held on 7 June to provide feedback on the review of Advisory Committees. In addition we are also carrying out a short survey with Councillors to find out:

  • Are there any Advisory Committee processes that you think could be done better?
  • What types of Advisory Committees would you like to see advise Council during its term?
  • Are there any groups that you think should be working groups or reference groups? (Please note the definitions of these groups is available under the 'Common Questions' section of this web page).
